Starbuck Logo Re-branding

the new Starbucks logo for 2011 is not a big difference at first look at but it is just more of an iconic logo rather than the original combination mark.

Olly Moss Star Wars Posters

this is just some more work by Olly Moss.
just looking at these a first glance i instantly liked them but after having a closer look i noticed more about them that was really well thought out and looked great like on the first one for the film 'a new hope' the silhouette of C3-PO has the two moons of Tatooine as the eyes, in the film luke skywalker gazes up at the moons it is quite an iconic scene.

Awaydays Movie Poster

an image to promote the 2009 movie 'Awaydays.'
i thought this was an interesting image because the poster has a modern twist on the dated look, the film was set in the late 70's and the whole film is made to feel like it was filmed in that period as the camera is grainy.

Work by Olly Moss

This is a great piece of work by Olly Moss a young graphic designer that every one seems to enjoy for the creative witty concepts behind his work I would also advise following him on twitter he seems to all ways be uploading work or have something interesting to say. A lot of his designs look to take inspiration from the work of the American graphic designer and movie title animator Saul Bass.

Swiss Style Typography

I stumbled upon this while doing some research for a historical studies project at university and instantly loved it. Its an amazing piece of typography, I don't know much about it and there doesn't seen to be anything I can find but it was titled 'Basic Typography – Ruedi Rüegg/Godi Fröhlich 1972' I just thought I would have to share it.

Cinematic

For my First new brief of 2011 i had to design and produce a poster to advertise a film festival, the choices that i was given were Road to nowhere - a celebration of the Road Movie, Cinema from the edge - a celebration of Art House Cinema and Noir - a celebration of Film Noir. I chose to do the Noir poster because in my research of the genres I like Film Noir a lot more, I felt it had much more to it I thought that the use of light and smoke to make things feel mysterious was interesting too. In this project I had to design a grid to make the layout of my poster and explain why I had chosen it and why. The poster also had to include a limited edition aspect I chose to base it around the aspect that the it had been 65 years of the term 'Film Noir'.

Neville Brody

By far my favourite graphic designer and typographer is Neville Brody simply because I find his work really inspirational. his work has the feel that it is the constructivist, modernist, and expressionist design but with a modern twist. the use of type in his work is very modern and stylish also.

Digital Graphics

My second project was digital graphics, it was based around the design of a logo for a company I had to choose from three. I chose the boho zone a project within Middlesbrough to create a digital and creative area where you can live and work from home. The basic concept behind my logo is to to things merging together work and home, the choice of colours came because the building its self is very modern and has the areas of colour on it. to go with the logo I also had to design a out of A3 poster and an animated web banner.
